Arise From Competition to Contribution

When I was younger, I thought life was a race with hidden traps. In my first year of medical school, textbooks were scarce. So when I found one in the library, I’d read it, then deliberately misfile it—ensuring it would still be there for me next time. I treated knowledge like contraband, hoarding it as if it were a treasure. And yes, it felt powerful—like sneaking the last slice of pizza while everyone else was still hungry.

However, the finish line never stayed still.
Every time I thought I’d “won,” someone else would find the book and outsmart me in misfiling and mess up my reading plan for that day.
Competition whispered: “Improve your hiding skills”
Contribution whispered: “Slow down. Share. There is enough for everyone.”

Maturity eventually tapped me on the shoulder and said:
“Medical school—and life itself—isn’t a scoreboard. It’s a symphony.”

And in a symphony, no instrument competes.
The violin doesn’t glare at the trumpet.
The drum doesn’t try to drown the flute.
Each plays its part, and together they create music none could make alone.

So for most of my life,  I don’t  waste my energy trying to outrun anyone.
I wake up, roll up my sleeves, and simply give my best, I don’t try to impress, I just show up in my most authentic version—because purpose tastes richer than trophies.

♨️ Pause and Ponder

– Are you shrinking into comparison or expanding into purpose?
– Are you focused on who is better, or who is blessed because you showed up?
– What’s the bigger question: “Who’s winning?” or “How can I contribute?”
– Is your life a competition to be won, or a contribution to be made?
– How would your perspective shift if you replaced “Who’s better?” with “Who’s blessed because I showed up?”

🌍 Wisdom Nuggets
– Compete less, contribute more.
– Comparison breeds envy; contribution breeds legacy.
– You don’t have to win to matter—you have to give to matter.
– The real question isn’t “Did I beat them?” but “Did I bless them?”
– Sometimes finding solution to scarcity abolishes competition.

🍽 Purposeful Resolve
Life is not a battlefield—it’s a banquet table.
Bring your dish. Share your flavour.
Let others taste the richness of what you carry.

Because when we contribute, we don’t just live—we help others live better.
And that, is the sweetest victory of all to bring true meaning into our independence as a country and a fulfilling living at our individual level.
