Asantehene’s Delegation Informs Speaker of Parliament of Asantehemaa’s Passing

A high-powered delegation from His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, today paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin.

The visit was to formally announce the passing of the Asantehemaa and to extend an official invitation to the Speaker and Parliament to take part in the funeral rites of the late queen.

The delegation was led by Nana Amomanhene, head of the delegation, and included Nana Adjurahene, Barfuor Kantakrayi, Otumfuo’s senior linguist, and Mr. Ernest Saahene, head of protocol at the Manhyia Palace.

The Speaker, on behalf of Parliament, expressed condolences to the Asantehene and the Ashanti Kingdom, assuring the delegation of Parliament’s support and participation in the funeral rites.
