Sixty-five pupils between the ages of ten and thirteen have successfully graduated from the 10th Cohort of the RoboCode Ghana STEM Training Programme, a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young learners with practical science and technology skills for the future.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Nduom Community Library in Elmina and brought together pupils, parents, facilitators, and partners committed to advancing STEM education at the grassroots level. Of the total graduates, 30 were boys and 35 were girls, underscoring the programme’s strong commitment to gender inclusion in science and technology education.
The training focused on S4A (Scratch for Arduino), a block-based physical programming language that combines Scratch with Arduino. Through this approach, pupils learned how to create digital interactions using sensors and electronic components, helping them develop problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills at an early age.
All graduating pupils were presented with certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the programme.
In recognition of excellence and dedication, the Overall Best Facilitator, Miss Doreen Kotey, was awarded a cash prize of GH¢5,000. She expressed her sincere appreciation to the entire facilitation team for their support and commended the organizers for sustaining an initiative that is shaping young innovators and future leaders in technology.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of Coconut Grove Beach Resort, Mr. Victor Opoku Minta, expressed gratitude to all partners and participants for their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the programme. He urged parents to actively encourage their children to participate in future STEM training programmes, emphasizing that the future belongs to science, technology, and innovation.
Mr. Minta further reaffirmed Coconut Grove Beach Resort’s commitment, alongside its partners, to corporate social responsibility initiatives, particularly in education. He noted that sustained investment in STEM education is critical to ensuring that local communities are not left behind in global technological trends and advancements.
The RoboCode STEM training project is a collaborative effort by Coconut Grove Beach Resort, World ORT, UNESCO, and the Nduom Community Library, demonstrating the power of partnerships in driving inclusive education and national development.
As Ghana continues to position itself within the global digital economy, initiatives such as this serve as a strong reminder that early exposure to STEM education is not a luxury, but a necessity for building a competitive and innovative future generation.
