Years ago, at a conference, I met a behavioral scientist whose presence was unforgettable. She didn’t just lecture about psychosocial issues—she embodied them. Her words carried weight, her insights felt lived, and her delivery had a grace that made every sentence resonate.
During a tea break, I approached her and said, “You’re so gifted in your craft. I envy the way you connect with people on so many levels.” She smiled, but it was the kind of smile that carried hidden battles.
“You have no idea how far I’ve come,” she said quietly. “Or the struggles I face daily. Back in medical school, behavioral science was not my favorite subject. But life had other plans. Painful mishaps forced me back to my notes, searching for answers. The deeper I suffered, the deeper I buried myself in the science. And I discovered something: the one who has lived a situation knows it best. I don’t waste my pain. Every difficulty is an opportunity for growth. My patients and students benefit from what I’ve learned, though they have no idea about the battles I fight daily. Purpose is forged in discomfort. And the belief that all things work together for good allows me to live one day at a time… one victory at a time.”
🌿 The Revelation
That encounter reshaped how I see life. People often read my reflections or seek counsel from me and assume my life is without hardships. If only they knew the daily struggles. But here is the difference: I refuse to waste my pain. I immerse myself fully in whatever I do, and I leave the outcome in my Maker’s hands.
I don’t live courting pity. My choices are not always perfect, but I choose to make the best out of every situation. I unlearn, learn, and relearn. I share my scars as lessons, not as excuses. And I keep discovering that with that attitude, even what was meant to harm me is turned into my good.
🍂 Pause to Reflect
We often admire greatness, forgetting that greatness is usually born in the crucible of hardship. Pain, when faced with courage, becomes a teacher. It chisels away at us until resilience and wisdom emerge.
The cracks in our lives are not flaws to hide—they are openings through which light enters. The lives of the great were not attained by sudden flight. While others complained or played the victim, they used their struggles as raw material to build lives of purpose, leaving footprints in the sands of time.
The very struggles we wish to escape often become the soil where our destiny takes root.
🌸 The Season’s Solitude
So I ask you: What is your story and your reality? Do you believe we are not accidents in creation? Do you know that life is not about how long we live, but how well we transform every situation into growth and purpose?
Don’t waste your struggles. Every setback can be reframed as preparation. Every scar can be a silent testimony of strength. The greatest victory is not perfection—it is the choice to rise, one day, one step, one triumph at a time. Just remember to take responsibility for what you can control, and faithfully release what you cannot to our Maker.
What are you willing to sacrifice for the good of mankind? Don’t think you have nothing to offer. Even your pain can be turned into gain if you refuse to own it as defeat, but instead share its lessons with others.
🙏 Serenity Prayer
Dear God,
May we not ask for tasks according to our abilities; instead, grant us the ability to surmount all tasks and convert all needful pain into our gain, tests into our testimonies, mess into our messages, setbacks into set ups and adversities into our advantage. Amen.
🌿 Happy Easter! 🌿
