Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has underscored the importance of strengthening trade and investment ties between Africa and the United States during his keynote address at the 14th Annual Pan-African Global Trade and Investment Conference in Delaware.
Speaking at the high-level gathering, the Minister described the event as an important platform to advance Pan-African economic cooperation and global partnerships. He noted that his participation reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to championing Africa’s economic transformation through strategic international collaboration.
A highlight of the conference for the Minister was his meeting with Dr. Julius Garvey, son of the iconic Pan-Africanist and philosopher, Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Ablakwa described the encounter as “an inspiration,” praising Marcus Garvey’s enduring legacy in shaping Pan-African thought and activism.
The Minister also held discussions with Delaware Governor, Matt Meyer, focused on forging a strategic partnership between Ghana’s Tema Port and the Port of Wilmington. According to Ablakwa, both parties expressed a strong mutual commitment to pursue this partnership, which is expected to enhance trade connectivity and open new avenues for economic growth.
He further extended his appreciation to the Center for Global Africa and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) for the invitation, describing the conference as a timely platform for dialogue and action on Africa’s trade and investment future.
