The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, paid a monitoring visit to schools in the Weija Gbawe Municipality to assess the implementation of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
The visit, which follows a similar exercise in Nungua, took the Minister to the Weija Gbawe Cluster of Schools, where she inspected meals served to pupils and interacted with teachers, caterers, and pupils.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Lartey reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding the GSFP, stressing President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to provide more children with access to nutritious meals that support both health and academic performance.
She commended caterers for their commitment despite challenges with the current feeding grant of GHS 2.00 per child per day, and assured them of timely payments once accurate data on cooking days is submitted.
As part of the visit, the Minister and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Felix Odamptey Lamptey, distributed biscuits and drinks to pupils of the Cluster of Schools.
She was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah; the National Coordinator of the GSFP, Hajia Fati Forgor; and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator, Madam Jessica Braimah.
