The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned what it describes as an “unprovoked” Israeli airstrike on the sovereign State of Qatar, which has resulted in casualties and significant damage to property.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government expressed deep concern, noting that the airstrikes represent a violation of international law and an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty. The statement warned that such actions undermine ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine.
President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, extended solidarity to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar during this difficult period.
The statement further commended Qatar for its “tireless and impressive commitment” to mediating peace in the long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict. Ghana also appealed to the international community to ensure that the incident does not derail Qatar’s diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful resolution.
The Ministry emphasized Ghana’s commitment to promoting peace, fairness, and respect for sovereignty in international relations.
