Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarku Breaks Silence on NDC Presidential Ambitions

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, popularly known as Ragga, has stated that he is willing to serve the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in any capacity, including the Presidential or Vice-Presidential slot, should the opportunity arise.

Speaking in interviews on Ahomka FM and Ocean 1 TV, Hon. Nyarku remarked in a light-hearted manner that discussions around potential future leaders of the NDC have often overlooked his name. He encouraged political commentators to include him in such conversations, noting that it would be an honour to serve the people of Ghana in any leadership role offered by the party.

He was quick to clarify, however, that the NDC’s current focus is not on succession or future presidential ambitions, but rather on supporting President John Dramani Mahama to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians. According to him, discussions about who leads the party after President Mahama are premature at this stage.

Reflecting on his performance over the past five years as MP, Hon. Nyarku highlighted several developmental initiatives undertaken in the constituency. These include the construction of a canteen for the Abakam Basic School and the surrounding community, the development of an AstroTurf facility, the installation of street lights, and the donation of 1,500 bags of fertilizer to farming communities.

He explained that while some of these projects fall under the mandate of the Municipal Assembly, Members of Parliament often step in to complement the efforts of local authorities to ensure that pressing community needs are addressed.

Looking ahead, Hon. Nyarku revealed that 2026 and beyond will be a period of intensified industrialisation for Cape Coast North. He stressed that job creation remains central to development and must not be compromised. As part of this vision, he assured constituents of plans to establish a textile manufacturing company and a shoe manufacturing company, among other initiatives, aimed at boosting employment and local economic growth.

Hon. Nyarku reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Cape Coast North, pledging continued advocacy for development, jobs, and improved living conditions in the constituency.
