Key Trade, Agribusiness and Industrial Initiatives Announced in Parliament

Government has outlined a series of major policy initiatives aimed at boosting trade, agribusiness and industrial development across the country. The announcements were made in Parliament as part of an update on efforts to strengthen Ghana’s economic recovery and enhance productivity in key sectors.

According to the briefing, the new initiatives are designed to expand export opportunities, support local manufacturers, modernise agricultural value chains and improve the overall competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses. The measures also align with broader national goals of job creation, food security and industrial expansion.

Parliament was informed that the government is prioritising partnerships with private sector players to scale up production in high-potential agribusiness areas, promote local processing of raw materials and improve market access for Ghanaian products both locally and internationally.

In addition, key industrial programmes will focus on revitalising existing factories, establishing new processing plants and strengthening linkages between agriculture and industry to maximise value addition.

The announcements have been welcomed by stakeholders who believe the initiatives, if fully implemented, could accelerate growth and position Ghana as a stronger player in regional and global markets.

More details on the specific programmes and timelines are expected in the coming days as sector ministries outline their implementation plans.
