The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a community near Apam.
Police say the suspect lured the victim into a ghetto, where he committed the act. He was arrested with support from the Mumford Community Task Force and has since admitted to the offence after interrogation by the Regional DOVVSU.
The survivor is receiving treatment at the St. Luke Catholic Hospital, while the suspect has been arraigned before court for prosecution.
Police are appealing to the public to help arrest four accomplices — Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto — who are currently on the run. The Command has assured that justice will be served.
