A breast cancer awareness and health screening exercise has been organized within the premises of The Lamb of God Church at the Social Welfare area in Cape Coast. The event was jointly held by the Ridge Royal Hotel in collaboration with the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) and Ahomka FM as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The free health screening exercise attracted residents from the Social Welfare community and surrounding areas. Health professionals from CCTH led the education segment, sensitizing participants on the causes, symptoms, and prevention of breast cancer. Women were advised to perform regular self-breast examinations and visit health facilities for early diagnosis and treatment.
Screening services provided on-site included breast examinations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, and malaria screening. Music and community engagement activities were held to encourage participation and create an interactive atmosphere.
During the program, a representative from the Pension Trust (PenTrust), Ms. Darkowa, educated residents on the benefits of the pension scheme and encouraged them to enroll.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Nana Obiri Aduama I, General Manager of Ridge Royal Hotel and Nkosohen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, emphasized that the initiative formed part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility. He noted that supporting community health and welfare remains a key pillar of the hotel’s operations.
Hon. Steven Forson, Assembly Member for the Crew Town Electoral Area, commended the partnership and explained that the collaboration with Ahomka FM, Ridge Royal Hotel and CCTH was aimed at bringing accessible healthcare to residents of the Social Welfare community. He encouraged the public to prioritize regular health screenings to improve their wellbeing.
The exercise concluded successfully, with organizers expressing satisfaction at the turnout and community participation.
