Rising Mental Health Crisis: Over 2,000 Cases and 27 Suicide Deaths Reported from 2023 to 2025.

In the past two years, the world has been reminded of a truth we cannot continue to ignore: mental health is health.

The Global Health Society (GHS) has sounded an alarm. Between 2023 and 2025, over 2,000 new mental health cases have been recorded, and tragically, 27 lives have been lost to suicide. These are not just numbers. They are our brothers, sisters, friends, and neighbors—lives cut short by conditions that too often go unnoticed, untreated, or dismissed.

Behind this surge are factors we all recognize: the lingering scars of the COVID-19 pandemic, financial uncertainty, and the loneliness of isolation. Anxiety, depression, and psychological disorders are no longer hidden in the shadows—they are present in every community, in every workplace, and sometimes, even in our own homes.

Dr. Emily Carter, spokesperson for GHS, reminds us: “Mental health is just as critical as physical health. The increase in cases reflects a growing awareness, but it also signals that many individuals are struggling without adequate support.”

We must listen. We must act. The 27 lives lost are not just a statistic—they are a call to build systems that prevent more tragedies. This means:

  • Expanding community-based support groups.

  • Strengthening suicide prevention strategies.

  • Increasing funding and policies that make mental health care accessible and affordable.

  • And most importantly, breaking the stigma that keeps too many from seeking help.

That is why the GHS is launching a campaign with one simple but powerful message: “It’s okay to not be okay. Seeking help is strength.”

This is a moment for all of us to rise as advocates. Check in on your friends. Open conversations in your families. Support mental health programs in your communities. Speak up for policies that protect and heal.

Because when we stand together, we can prevent further loss. We can create a society where mental well-being is not a privilege, but a right for all.

💡 If you or someone you know is in immediate need of support, reach out to local mental health professionals or call the helplines available in your area. Help is here. Hope is here.

Together, we can save lives. Together, we can heal.
