Too lazy to learn!
As a trainer, I used to go out of my way to give candidates time off clinical duties to prepare for exams. Sadly, some misuse the time for side jobs and later complain of exhaustion. Some financially struggling students are helped to pay fees only to watch them living lavishly and return asking for help again the next academic year. When boundaries are set, it is perceived as unfair or unkind.
It is frustrating to witness people misuse opportunities and still cast themselves as victims. That emotional tug-of-war between wanting to help and feeling disheartened by their choices is not easy to bear if they are people you can’t easily ignore.
Reflection
🎡Opportunities come with responsibility, but some gravitate toward short-term gains, neglecting the bigger picture. Making things flexible for the unfocused is weaponising them for a life of mediocrity.
🎡It is easier for most of us to blame fatigue or bad luck than to face the implications of our own choices. Thus, we often play the victim to shield us from accountability.
🎡Some of us fear failure but unconsciously set ourselves up for it because we don’t even realise our attitude is undermining our own growth.
🎡Dealing with people with such mindset and attitudes can be emotionally draining as goodwill is taken for granted.
🎡Sometimes, being kind means being firm. Some people grow only when they are confronted—gently but clearly—with the truth of their actions.
🎡 However, some people are so addicted to victimhood that rescuing them is a losing battle.Is it worth drowning trying to save someone who won’t swim? Discern this and protect your peace by leaving them in Our Maker’s hand and moving on.
