Tragedy Strikes as GAF Helicopter Crashes in Adansi Akrofuom – Casualties Feared

A Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter was completely destroyed after crashing and bursting into flames at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The aircraft, which is known to operate the Accra–Obuasi route, went down under possible unclear circumstances. The incident has raised concerns, as early reports suggest multiple casualties.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least four individuals may have been on board, as charred and dismembered body parts were discovered at the crash site. However, the identities of the victims have yet to be confirmed.

In a press statement issued later in the day, the Ghana Armed Forces confirmed the incident, disclosing that the helicopter, en route to Obuasi, had disappeared from radar. According to the statement, the aircraft was carrying a total of eight individuals — three crew members and five passengers.
