Hailing from Siniensi in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala was the beloved youngest child of Paul Oscar Anala and Lucy Apung Anala. He spent his formative years in Tamale, where the seeds of his remarkable journey were sown.
From an early age, Peter’s fascination with technical skills was unmistakable. Few could have imagined that the bright, energetic boy would one day rise to serve his nation with unwavering dedication and, ultimately, make the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His educational journey began at Barwah Barracks, home to the Air Force Base in Tamale, where he completed his primary and junior secondary education. He later attended St. James Seminary/Secondary School, where discipline, academic excellence, and moral strength took root. Peter often likened his alma mater to a military training camp, crediting it with instilling in him the resilience and focus that would define his career.
After St. James, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), graduating in 2012. His thirst for knowledge never waned. In 2023, he earned a Master of Science in Air Transport and Aviation Management from KNUST, and at the time of his passing, he was undertaking postgraduate studies in Safety and Accident Investigation in the United Kingdom.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Peter never lost touch with his roots. In his community, he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of quiet strength. Whether encouraging the youth, offering wise counsel to friends, or lending a hand to neighbours, Peter’s generosity was measured not only by his words but by the tangible impact of his actions. He believed deeply that service to God and humanity was the highest calling.
In the Ghana Air Force, Peter was celebrated as a skilled pilot and a disciplined officer. Yet his truest legacy lay in the lives he touched—built on integrity, humility, and genuine kindness.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Ursula Wematu Asaghedewe, and their cherished daughter. Despite the demands of military life, his family remained the anchor of his world. He spoke of them with pride and loved them with a depth that all who knew him could see.
A baptised and confirmed Catholic, Peter’s unwavering devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary guided his life and decisions. His faith was his compass—steady, resolute, and unshaken until his final moments.
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala’s story is one of courage, scholarship, service, and sacrifice. He leaves behind an enduring legacy that will inspire generations—a life fully lived, a duty faithfully discharged, and a heart that loved without reservation.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
