Turkish investors have expressed strong interest in expanding investments in Ghana’s health and tourism sectors, following high-level engagements with the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
The discussions highlighted the growing importance of health tourism as a driver of national development and positioned Ghana as an emerging destination for medical and wellness travel in the sub-region.
Addressing the Turkish Investment Center, Hon. Gomashie underscored the urgent need for affordable accommodation facilities to support patients, caregivers, and medical tourists seeking healthcare services in Ghana. She noted that accessible and well-priced lodging is critical to the success of health tourism and the overall patient experience.
The Minister assured the Turkish delegation of litigation-free lands for proposed projects and reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to support, coordinate, and facilitate investments that align with Ghana’s tourism and development priorities.
As part of Ghana’s strategic vision for the sector, Hon. Gomashie called for the development of a 5,000-capacity hotel to boost accommodation stock and support large-scale tourism and medical travel. She also proposed the establishment of a tourism and hospitality training school to build local capacity and serve Ghana and the wider West African sub-region.
The Turkish delegation, led by Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey, H.E. Abdul Nasiru-Deen, welcomed the proposals and confirmed Turkey’s keen interest in investing across multiple sectors in Ghana. These include healthcare, tourism, agriculture, information technology, defence, and related infrastructure, primarily through Public–Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements.
The delegation further indicated potential expansion into food production and media, reflecting a broad-based investment approach aimed at strengthening Ghana’s economic and social infrastructure.
The engagement marks a significant step toward deepening Ghana–Turkey economic cooperation, with both sides expressing optimism that the proposed investments will contribute to job creation, skills development, and sustainable growth across key sectors of the economy.
