Two Smart Classrooms Commissioned to Boost STEM Education in North Tongu

Two state-of-the-art smart classroom projects have been commissioned in the North Tongu Constituency to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and enhance digital learning in public schools.

The projects were inaugurated through a collaborative partnership between the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Government of China, with support from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Ablakwa expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa, for what he described as an impactful and forward-looking partnership aimed at empowering students through technology-driven education.

The newly commissioned smart classrooms are fully equipped with high-speed connectivity, smart boards, tablets, solar-powered systems, and curated educational content designed to enhance teaching and learning, particularly in STEM-related subjects.

The current phase of the project covers two senior high schools in the constituency — Battor Senior High School (BASEC) and Abor Senior High Technical School (ABAST) — both of which are expected to significantly benefit from the improved digital infrastructure.

Under the partnership arrangement, the Chinese partners supplied the STEM equipment and solar panels, while Hon. Ablakwa facilitated the infrastructure development to ensure the successful delivery of the projects.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide in education, promote innovation, and prepare students in North Tongu for emerging opportunities in science and technology.

The commissioning of the smart classrooms underscores a shared commitment by stakeholders to invest in quality education as a key driver of sustainable development.
