The first female Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh has been nominated by the President H.E John Mahama as the Ghanaian ambassador to Canada.
Professor Edu-Buandoh holds a PhD from the University of lowa, USA; MPhil and a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Cape Coast and a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Dora is a Fulbright scholar, and a member of Linguistics Association of Ghana( LAG); African Studies Association; International Reading Association; University Teachers Association of Ghana; International Federation of University Women (UCC Chapter) and other professional associations.
The diplomatic appointments, which are subject to parliamentary approval includes other notable personalities such as the former Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, a famous Ghanaian actress and a former model, Kalsoume Sinare among others.
In a letter directed to the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, PhD indicated that the nominations were made after consultations with the Council of State, and in accordance with Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution.
