The University of Mines and Technology has intensified its 2026 UNESCO World Engineering Day activities with an inspiring engagement at the University Basic School, ensuring that Junior High School students are not left out of the innovation conversation.
As part of the celebration, the UMaT team interacted with the young learners, introducing them to foundational engineering concepts and demonstrating how innovation shapes everyday life.
The session was marked by enthusiasm and curiosity, with students asking bold questions and actively exploring how engineering solutions address real-world challenges. The outreach highlighted the importance of nurturing interest in science, technology and problem-solving skills at an early age.
By engaging junior high students, UMaT is reinforcing its commitment to building a strong pipeline of future engineers — young minds equipped with creativity and confidence to contribute to sustainable national development.
The message from the engagement was clear: the future of engineering begins now, and it begins with empowering the next generation.
