Scenes from the forecourt of the Elmina Magistrate Court have left stakeholders questioning the health and safety conditions of legal practitioners, court officials, and members of the public, as a heap of refuse awaits relocation.
A visit to the premises revealed several schoolchildren and local residents adding to the already deteriorating sanitation situation.
In a discussion with a team from Ahomka FM, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality, Hon. Ismail Saeed Zagoon, acknowledged the issue and assured that plans are far advanced to ensure consistent waste management at various sites across the municipality. He cited the lack of adequate waste collection vehicles as a major challenge but noted that engagements are ongoing with relevant agencies and organizations to explore alternative solutions.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have called for the immediate relocation of the refuse site from the vicinity of the court to a more appropriate and sanitary location.
