Ghana and Norway have taken a significant step to elevate their bilateral relations with the signing of a Political Consultations Agreement on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly.
The agreement was signed by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Norway’s Minister of International Development, Hon. Åsmund Grøver Aukrust. It marks the beginning of a strengthened partnership between the two nations, paving the way for expanded cooperation in key areas.
Under the new framework, Ghana and Norway will deepen collaboration in oil and gas, trade facilitation, educational opportunities, agribusiness, artificial intelligence, maritime security, blue economy, and intelligence sharing.
Both countries also pledged to provide global leadership as co-chairs of the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, reaffirming their shared commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
Hon. Ablakwa commended his Norwegian counterpart for what he described as exceptional dedication to making the agreement possible, while applauding his own team’s hard work in securing the deal.
The development has been hailed as a milestone that not only cements Ghana–Norway relations but also positions both nations as forward-looking partners ready to address global challenges together.
