The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has met with officials of the World Bank to deepen collaboration toward strengthening Ghana’s health sector and advancing universal access to quality healthcare.

The high-level meeting formed part of government’s ongoing Health Sector Resetting Agenda, a national initiative aimed at identifying and addressing priority needs to accelerate the attainment of Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

During the engagement, the Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian—regardless of location or income—can access quality and affordable health services. He emphasized that the Resetting Agenda aligns with Ghana’s broader vision of building a resilient, equitable, and inclusive health system that leaves no one behind.

Representatives of the World Bank commended Ghana’s renewed focus on primary healthcare delivery and expressed their readiness to continue supporting the Ministry through technical assistance, investments, and policy guidance. They underscored that sustained collaboration among government, development partners, and local stakeholders will be critical to achieving UHC targets.
Both parties agreed on the need to strengthen health financing, human resources for health, digital health systems, and infrastructure as part of the next phase of reforms.
The meeting marks another milestone in Ghana’s long-standing partnership with the World Bank, reinforcing a shared commitment to transforming healthcare delivery and ensuring healthier lives for all citizens.
