Authorities have arrested two individuals for allegedly trying to bribe officials of the Free SHS Secretariat in a bid to influence the Senior High School (SHS) placement of their wards.
The Deputy National Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, Dr. Belinda Glover, disclosed the arrests, cautioning the public that any effort to manipulate the school placement system will not be tolerated.
According to Dr. Glover, the suspects were apprehended after presenting multiple school placement request sheets, a move that raised suspicion of fraudulent intent.
Dr. Glover confirmed that the suspects have since been handed over to the police, along with the bribe money they allegedly offered.
She further warned parents and guardians against paying intermediaries or officials to alter school placements, stressing that the system is equipped with robust monitoring mechanisms to detect and prevent manipulation.
The Free SHS Secretariat reiterated its commitment to transparency and fairness in the placement process, urging the public to follow official channels for all placement-related inquiries.
