The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has convened a meeting with its Technical Working Group Committee to review and validate the draft Legislative Instrument (L.I.) for the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024 (Act 1121).
The session, chaired by the Minister, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, brought together members of the Committee to deliberate on the proposed regulations and address inputs from the Office of the Attorney-General.
In her remarks, Hon. Dr. Lartey expressed the Ministry’s deep appreciation to members of the Committee for their continued dedication to advancing gender equality and ensuring the effective implementation of the Affirmative Action Act.
She highlighted key milestones achieved since the passage of the law, including the inauguration of the Gender Equity Committee, the official launch of the Act, and the formation of the Technical Working Group to guide the development of the Legislative Instrument.
The Minister also commended the Attorney-General’s Department and members of the Working Group for their technical expertise and collaboration, urging them to sustain the momentum toward finalizing the regulations.
Once enacted, the Legislative Instrument will operationalize the Affirmative Action Act, setting clear frameworks and enforcement mechanisms to promote gender equity and women’s participation across public and private sectors.
