An advance delegation from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has arrived in Botswana to participate in the pre-Annual General Meeting (AGM) activities of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM).
The team is led by the Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CANS), Prof. Rofela Combey, together with the immediate past Provost of CANS, Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan, and the TAGDev 2.0 Coordinator, Prof. Festus Annor-Frempong. They are joined by staff from the TAGDev 2.0 UCC Coordinating Unit, as well as collaborators from the University for Development Studies, the University of Energy and Natural Resources, the Asuansi Farm Institute, and the Adidome Farm Institute.
This year’s RUFORUM 21st AGM, which takes place from 1st to 5th December 2025 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, is being held under the theme: “Positioning Africa’s Universities and the Higher Education Sector to Effectively Impact Development Processes on the Continent.”
The event is expected to attract more than 600 delegates, including university leaders, researchers, students, policymakers, and development partners from across the African continent and beyond. A Climate Hackathon, focusing on innovation and youth-driven solutions for climate resilience, will also form part of the week-long activities.
UCC’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, is expected to join the team in Botswana for the main AGM sessions.
RUFORUM’s AGM continues to serve as a major platform for advancing collaboration, strengthening agricultural training and research, and promoting the role of African universities in driving sustainable development.
