Sixty-one students from the North Tongu Constituency have been awarded full tertiary scholarships in Science and Agriculture, marking another major investment in education and youth empowerment.

The scholarships, awarded yesterday, are performance-based and will cover the full duration of each beneficiary’s course until graduation. With this latest award, the total number of scholarships supported over the past six months has reached 250, reflecting a sustained commitment to human capital development in the constituency.

The initiative was made possible through the support of Italian partners, whose collaboration continues to create meaningful opportunities for young people. The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Laura Ranalli, led the delegation, which included representatives from CIHEAM Bari, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and BF.

BF, an Italian agribusiness company operating in North Tongu, was highlighted for its significant contribution to local development. The company has created hundreds of jobs in the area and remains actively engaged in community development initiatives, particularly in agriculture and skills development.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described the scholarships as a deliberate effort to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to drive innovation, strengthen food security, and contribute to national development.

The initiative underscores the impact of strategic international partnerships and people-centred leadership, showcasing a growing Ghana–Italy collaboration that prioritises education, agriculture, and inclusive growth.
