RAGE: Rectitudinous, Authentic, Genuine Existence

For years, my inspiration revolved around a man I deeply admired. He was polished, articulate, spiritually upright—a figure I quietly looked up to as a mentor. His life seemed flawless, so much so that I patterned much of my own journey after his. Whenever I asked him to share the secret behind his success, he would only smile, leaving me to wonder and aspire.
Then one day,I helped a stranger who later revealed himself to be a private investigator. In gratitude, he offered to do something for me. Half-joking, half-serious, I told him I wished I knew the architecture of success behind this man I admired so much.
I didn’t hear from him for a long time and when he resurfaced, I wished I hadn’t asked for his help. When the report came, I could hardly breathe. At first, I refused to accept it, because it threatened to destabilize  everything I had built by following his footsteps. But  once you see, as much as you try, you can’t unsee it anymore. And as I watched more closely, the cracks began to show. A carefully constructed illusion emerged. His philanthropy was a mask for underhand dealings. His “home visitations” were covers for secret affairs. He craved admiration and control so badly that his religious activities were bait to lure unsuspecting victims into manipulation. Hmmm, even the love he had shown me over two decades was not real—I was only a pawn in his elaborate charade.
The anguish was suffocating. It was not just disappointment—it was torment, grief, desolation. To discover that someone you trusted, someone who inspired you, was living a lie—it shakes the very foundation of your soul.
.
Yet, consistently, I have come to believe that all things work together for our good. With a growth mindset, what was meant to harm us can be transformed into wisdom. Because out of that torment came a revelation: in a world full of performers, discernment is not a luxury—it is a necessity.
We must stop worshipping polish and start valuing purity. We must stop being dazzled by charisma and start testing character. We must stop building our trust on earthen vessels that crack under pressure, and anchor ourselves instead in the Maker, the only solid rock.
I was deeply challenged too. How do I live my life so that when a private investigator is put on my case, the revelations won’t shatter the lives of those who look up to me?
This is a call for a revolution against performances. Against the culture that prizes image over integrity, applause over authenticity, and stage lights over sincerity. The freedom we long for is not found in pretending—it is found in living simple, pure, original, and trustworthy lives.
The world is dark with deception, but you can be a shining banner of light. Not by performing, but by being real. Not by faking, but by being faithful.
So sharpen your discernment. Look before you leap. Desist from blind hero worshipping. Don’t clone your mentor. Honour them, then outwalk them on your own road. Build on the right foundation. And let your life be a testimony that in a superficial age, authenticity is not a crime—it is courage.
