FIFA Opens Major Africa Office in Rabat, Strengthening Morocco’s Football Powerhouse Status

FIFA has officially inaugurated its new African regional office in Rabat, Morocco, reinforcing the North African country’s growing status as a continental football hub.

The cutting-edge facility, situated at the Mohammed VI Complex, will serve as a strategic centre for overseeing football development across Africa. This milestone comes months after a landmark Host Agreement was signed in December 2024 between FIFA, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

With this launch, Rabat joins an elite list of cities including Paris, Miami, and Jakarta to host FIFA’s global offices a clear reflection of the organization’s deeper commitment to developing football worldwide.

“Today is certainly a wonderful, glorious, and joyful day,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the launch. “We will write in gold letters the history of FIFA, football in Africa, football in Morocco, and football in the world.”

Infantino also expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI for his role in bringing the project to life, describing the complex as “incredible and beautiful,” and a symbol of Morocco’s vision for the future of football.

The new office will work alongside FIFA’s existing regional centers in Brazzaville, Dakar, Johannesburg, and Kigali, focusing on project coordination, grassroots development, infrastructure improvement, and policy implementation for the continent’s football federations.

This move not only bolsters Morocco’s already solid football reputation but also marks a major step toward FIFA’s ambition to have a stronger and more consistent presence across Africa.
