Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has visited the residence of President John Dramani Mahama to extend his condolences to the President, the First Lady, and the Government of Ghana following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers of state, six senior government officials, and military personnel.
The visit, which took place on Friday, August 8, was attended by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and other senior government officials. Sharing details of the meeting on her official Facebook account, the Vice President described the gesture as one of “solidarity and statesmanship,” noting that the former President’s presence brought comfort during a profoundly difficult period.
“In a gesture of solidarity and statesmanship, former President John Agyekum Kufuor paid a visit to President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, at their residence to express his condolences and support during this difficult time. I joined them and other government officials to receive him and thank him for his thoughtful gesture,” she wrote.
During the visit, former President Kufuor called on the nation to rally behind the incumbent President, emphasizing that public service often entails significant risks, as demonstrated by the tragic loss of the eight public servants.
