UCC Hospital Crowned Best Hospital in Central Region for Second Consecutive Year

The University of Cape Coast Hospital has once again been honoured as the Best Hospital in the Central Region for 2025 by the Central Regional Health Directorate, marking its second consecutive year of receiving the prestigious regional recognition.

The achievement, announced during the 2025 Central Regional Peer Review Awards, reflects growing confidence in the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery, patient safety, and professional service standards across the region.

In addition to the top regional award, the hospital also received a special commendation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Health Directorate in recognition of its consistent professionalism and excellence in service delivery.

Following the announcement, the Regional Health Directorate, led by its Director, Dr. James Kojo Prah, formally presented the awards to the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Denis W. Aheto.

According to Dr. Prah, the recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication of staff at the hospital, as well as the systems and structures that have been implemented to ensure quality healthcare delivery. He emphasized that sustained commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement has been key to the hospital’s outstanding performance.

The back-to-back recognition of the University of Cape Coast Hospital is being seen as a strong endorsement of its growing role as a leading healthcare institution in the region, setting a benchmark for other health facilities.

This development reinforces the importance of investment in healthcare systems, staff motivation, and institutional accountability in achieving better health outcomes for communities.

As the hospital continues to earn national attention, stakeholders are calling for sustained support to further strengthen its capacity to deliver accessible, efficient, and quality healthcare services to the people it serves.
