Bosomtwe Girls STEM SHS Makes Ghana Proud at 2026 Robofest World Championship

Former Education Minister, Yaw Osei Adutwum, has praised the outstanding achievement of Bosomtwe Girls STEM Senior High School for representing Ghana at the 2026 Robofest World Championship in Michigan, USA, where the school placed 4th in the Time Trial Bottle Sumo Category.

According to Dr. Adutwum, the achievement is a strong reflection of the impact of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education on Ghana’s future development. He described the school’s journey from becoming champions at the Ghana Robofest National Championship to competing on the world stage within only five years of its establishment as remarkable and inspiring.

The former minister also expressed satisfaction in supporting the team financially for the international competition, stressing his continued belief that Ghana’s future depends on innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills developed through STEM education.

Dr. Adutwum commended the students, teachers, parents and the entire Bosomtwe Girls STEM community for their dedication and hard work, saying they have demonstrated that Ghanaian students can compete confidently among the best in the world.

The achievement has renewed calls for increased investment in STEM education, robotics training and innovation hubs across the country to equip more young people with practical skills for the future. Education advocates believe such successes should encourage government, private institutions and development partners to expand opportunities in science and technology education, especially for young girls.

As Ghana continues to position itself for global competitiveness, the success of Bosomtwe Girls STEM Senior High School serves as a powerful reminder that investing in education and innovation can unlock the immense potential of the country’s youth.
