Ghana’s education sector is taking a bold step toward the future

At the ongoing Education World Forum, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Cambridge Education to support Ghana’s education reform agenda.

This partnership is more than just an agreement. It is a commitment to preparing Ghanaian students for a rapidly changing world. The collaboration will focus on strengthening curriculum and assessment systems, improving teacher professional development, and supporting system analysis to enhance learning outcomes across the country.

Importantly, the agreement also places attention on emerging global priorities such as climate education and artificial intelligence. These areas are becoming increasingly important in today’s world, and Ghana cannot afford to be left behind.

For many young people, especially those in underserved communities, access to quality education remains a challenge. This partnership presents an opportunity to bridge learning gaps, equip teachers with modern skills, and empower students with knowledge that matches the demands of the future.

Education stakeholders, parents, civil society organisations, and development partners must rally behind this initiative to ensure its successful implementation. A stronger education system means a stronger Ghana — one where every child has the opportunity to thrive, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

As Ghana continues its education transformation journey, investments in innovation, teacher capacity, and future-ready learning must remain a national priority. The future of Ghana depends on the quality of education we provide today.
